Through an integral mentor relationship, the Induction Program equips Initial license holders with many instructional skills, including classroom management strategies, a knowledge of standards and curriculum, the ability to meet needs of diverse learners, and an understanding of the working culture of Boulder Valley Schools. Initial licensed teachers are provided opportunities to learn district policy and perspective in a series of seminars, as well as to partner with a mentor in separate professional development activities. Boulder Valley School District’s Induction Program has three required elements.
A district mentor or a peer mentor, selected by administrators and the Educator Support Services Team, is assigned to work in teachers’ classrooms.
Each Induction participant is assigned a seminar facilitator who is a district mentor or curriculum specialist.
Throughout the year, teachers are required to share their goals, report on their progress, and reflect on their instructional practices
